Across Modesto City Schools, campus improvement projects are taking shape, bringing new spaces and expanded opportunities for students throughout the district.

Elliott’s New Spaces Open and Nearly Complete 
AAt Elliott, students are already enjoying their new cafeteria, a bright and welcoming space that recently opened for daily use. The new shop building is close behind. Hiring for a new teacher begins in January, so students can begin hands-on projects later this year, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for winter.

A New Era for Modesto High Agriculture 
The new Modesto High Ag Farm on Bangs Avenue is nearing the finish line. Crews are making strong progress, and the facility is expected to open in March. Once complete, animals will begin moving in, giving students a true working farm experience and expanding FFA and agriculture pathway opportunities.

Big Changes Underway at Franklin 
Families at Franklin Elementary can already see significant changes taking shape. Structures for the new multipurpose room, cafeteria, and administration building are now standing, offering a glimpse of what’s ahead for the campus. The old library building has been removed, and the library has been temporarily relocated while construction continues. The new administration and cafeteria buildings are expected to be completed by the end of the school year.

New Athletics Complex Taking Shape 
Construction continues on the new athletics complex at Davis High. The new track and field facility has been in use since the start of the school year, while construction on the new baseball and softball fields is underway. Stadium work will continue with the addition of a new swimming pool in 2026. Gregori High School will also have its new pool constructed in 2026.

Modesto High School’s Major Transformation 
Construction of new classroom buildings continues at Modesto High School. These Phase 1 buildings are expected to be ready for students in late fall 2026. The new facilities include 23 classrooms, student and staff restrooms, conference rooms, and offices.

Science Learning Gets a Boost 
Science classrooms are being upgraded across the district. Roosevelt Junior High is nearing completion of the first phase of its science lab renovation, with additional improvements scheduled after Winter Break. At Downey High, the first set of upgraded labs is expected to open to students in early January, strengthening hands-on learning and STEM opportunities.

Orville Wright’s Campus Transformation Continues 
At Orville Wright Elementary, a significant campus transformation is underway. Construction continues on the new cafeteria, with completion expected in early 2026.
